Bhagavad Gita 12.13-14
Sanskrit
अद्वेष्टा सर्वभूतानां मैत्रः करुण एव च...advesta sarva-bhutanam maitrah karuna eva ca...
Translation
One who is not envious but is a kind friend to all beings, who is free from possessiveness and ego — such a devotee is dear to Me.
Explanation
In this section of the Bhakti Yoga chapter, Krishna lists qualities of the ideal devotee — not superhuman attainments but attitudinal virtues available to any sincere practitioner. Freedom from envy, kindness, absence of possessiveness, evenness of mind in pleasure and pain. These are the natural fruits of spiritual practice expressed in daily relationship.
Life Application
Today, in your interactions, cultivate the simple quality of kindness toward everyone you meet — not as performance but as a practice of the heart.
